Hi All

I have recently taken over the role of BBS Speleological Abstracts (SA) coordinator and would like to request details of articles or books published in 2008.  The deadline for submission will be the 30th April 2011.

For those of you who aren't aware, BBS SA is an annual compilation of the world's speleological literature. About 4000 titles are included every year, most of them with a short abstract. The SA/BBS covers a broad range of subjects including karstology, regional speleology, archaeology, paleontology, biospeleology, applied speleology, etc. and since 1995 has been available on paper and on CD-ROM. The CD version contains a searchable list of 200 keywords in 4 languages (English, French, German, and Spanish).

This is a great way to get UK speleological literature available to the international community and is also a great source of information for us wishing to know about foreign lands.

Please contact me by PM or direct to my email address which can be found under 'speleo abstracts co-ordinator' on http://bcra.org.uk/contact.html#g  if you have some relevant literature that you would like included in the next publication.  E.g This can be from a book, expedition report or all the 2008 articles from a caving club journal.

I'm happy to receive the information in nearly any format that is suitable for you (e.g. pdf, word doc, text doc, scan) provided I can extract the relevant information from it.  Details typically included are...

* Article Title
* Year
* Publication name
* Publication url (if available)
* Volume
* Issue Number
* Page numbers for articles
* Number of pages for book
* All Authors (First and Surname)
* Abstract - no more than 700 characters
* Chapter and country  codes - a pdf with this information in is available on request or from (http://www.ssslib.ch/bbs/collabo/en/frame.htm) under the heading 'Chapter and country codes'

It is not essential that a 700 character abstract be submitted. Titles alone will suffice if this ensures a good representation of UK literature in the next edition. Publications that are available only on the Internet may also be included and preferably with the publication's URL.

Cheers
Gina
