caving for profit?

Hi all. Just out of interest what insurance ect would you have to have in place to cave for profit?

Before you all start I am already a bca qualified leader  ;) and I am in the millitary ( currently in the middle of leaving) so have only done it with the millitary/ non profit with friends/ clubs.

Any useful advice welcome.

If you consider professional caving to be more of a vocation rather than a cash-cow then you'll be closer to the mark; it's probably a truism that professional caving is more a quality of work/life decision than a monetary one - not too sure how many multi-millionaire instructors there are but judging by their choice of car, clothing and puzzled looks it's not into double figures just yet.

Although I am an avid caver I don't think I could ever be a cave instructor, doing the same cave day in day out as your day job would likely suck all the fun out of it in my opinion.

Or alternatively I get to do the thing I love the most for my living and introduce new people to it all the time. Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

Professional cavers aren't there to go caving "doing the.... cave", they are there to enthuse other people into thinking caving is great and thereby hopefully to eventually become a caver. It might only be 1:100 who do this but it's still a win.

The cave is a stage; the leader is the actor, the trip is a performance and the group are the audience; if the audience is enjoying the show it's fabulous all round.

A very good way to sum it up!

It goes of what you have on your leader certs, or if your a CIC you have no lead so to speak.
I could happily do it by switching venues from time to time.
