I don't neccessarily think cave diving is dangerous per se, especially with the increased reliability of kit (which brings its own risks). However, it is unforgiving.

I did my first cave dives in the 1980's, and after three dives decided they were all nutters. A few years later I ended up joining the TSG and then the CDG - well at the time I figured that it was easier and more interesting way than digging to maybe get into some new cave. Hmmmm.....

Contrary to popular belief, most cave divers are very cautious and take great care to minimise any danger to themselves or others.

That all depends on who the "other" is.  :halo:

Sorry it wasn't a troll. I was just wondering what would happen if when asked "you do know that cave diving is dangerous..." the reply was "it dosn't matter"

It doesn't. You could say that pretty much everything we do is "dangerous". Personally it scares the crap out of me how complacent people get behind the wheel of the now ubiquitous 4x4. At least when we go caving, wet or dry, we are focused and have thought about what we are doing.

When I was less than happy with life, all my caving and diving kit was on a boat or held in customs for more than three months. Missed it like hell, though probably the caving kit more than the diving kit at that time.
