Changing batteries on duo

Ok really embarrassed (and not helping my I am an intelligent and non-dizzy blonde case) but how the hell do I open up the top bit to get the old batteries out. Have got as far as opening the metal size bits out and cleaning off the blood from where I have just sliced my thumb open...now im stuck and getting frustrated, want to get new batteries in and then I can get to work on my battery-powered fairy lights round it!  :-[

pull the top silver bits outward. They are a bit springy.

Once you have pulled the metal bits out, unhook them from the top and pull the battery compartment out (up).

A better design then the scurion screw tops I think. Plus from your experience makes it less likely the battery's fall out if the springs spring out accidentally.

I've always borrowed kit until recently. You should have seen how long it took me to work out the lock and different settings! Scary! I am of the pink undersuit variety though.
