Corrugated Green Club Hut Eastwater

Hi - this is a request to find out more information about the old green club hut on Eastwater Lane, Priddy. I'm informed that it was a Northampton CC- not sure if it was called that, as I cannot find any records of when it existed or disbanded.. that has maybe been used by the East Mendip CC.. would love to know what happened to the old log books from 15 to 30 years ago- if they still exist , who is custodian of the hut now etc , etc, I understand maybe Leeds University might have a link there now.

It's still a bit vague to me- does anyone remember anything else?  :) anyone they went with or history welcome. Sorry if its prying but I have a friend who has vague memories of it  and would love to know if any log book records exist.

You sure about EGONS Pete? They still exist but don't seem to cave. There is no mention of the hut on their website
http://www.egons.org.uk/

Pretty sure it was/still is used by Northampton CC, and used to be used by East Somerset CC, but EGONS may also have used it although you would think they might have mentioned it in their history...

Here is a response direct from an ex East Somerset Caving Club member (who isn't registered on here):

Hi Les,

I noticed the posting on the UK forum regarding the wriggly tin shed in Eastwater Lane. I have not joined the forum so can?t reply as you have. FYI: The hut was built by the East Somerset Caving Club (I was a member). Most members were also members of the WCC and we dug Rhino Rift from there. The late John Benham was a member of the Northampton CC used to also stay there with others occasionally. You may remember there was a memorial window in the hut dedicated to him. When the ESCC stopped regularly using the hut the Northampton took over its maintenance and payments. There is still at least two Northampton  who visit the hut. So there it is!

Some people are getting confused with the old Wessex Eastwater Hut which used to be just over the wall and a little further down the depression from the ESCC hut.

Big Thank you to the non member for the info- that's really good - my friend mentioned the stained glass window of a caver or climber.  :)
