Just got back after another week in Doolin staying at Anne Frawleys again.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've been there in the past 15 years or so at this time of year and we've only ever had one or at most 2 bad weather days in the week. The UBSS seem to always be there at the same time so there must be a link with good weather!

Managed to get down Pollnagollum, Polldubh, Faunarooska, Gragan West, Poulnagree and Cullaun 1 all on separate days.

Finding some if the entrances is "interesting" such as Polldubh, the Cullauns and Gragan West which are in forested (or recently cleared forestry) areas.

The other "interesting" part of the trip was driving the last 40 miles at night with no lights after the drive belt for the alternator slackened off when the power steering pump self-destructed... still made it to McDermott's in time for the first Guinnesses of the week!

You should have stayed for a second week - the weather was far better. :)

Yes, this is all very well but the BIG question is: can you buy cold fizzy lager in Ireland? (This could make or break a trip).

Maybe - but it would have made the tramping about on recently cleared forestry looking for Gragan West MUCH less enjoyable if there hadn't been any mist! :x

Spent more time looking for the cave than actually in it. But that's part of the fun!

We did the trip the following week, from H2 to H1. Found H2 easily enough, it helps to know where it is!

But when we came out of H1, & climbed up to the surface the "Where the f*ck are we???" look on Jayne's face was a delight.

when i went there i stayed in some really nice cheap cottages really worth it, however the camping is better in terms of location cos its 5min walk from doolin river cave and the pub!
