Not sure if this is generally known, but the Britannia Inn in Crickhowell offers bunkhouse accommodation for ?15 a night. It has very basic kitchen facility and a couple of bunk rooms sleeping up to 8 people. There are 2 rooms for couples at the higher cost of ?20 per person per night. You'll need a sleeping bag otherwise they can provide bedding at extra cost.
They also serve an excellent pint of Butcombe, and they are smack bang in the centre of Crickhowell, close to the Bear, the chippy, and a few other places that do food. They can be contacted by phone on 01873 812547, or you can find them on Facebook or useyourlocal.com. I have not stayed there but they are keen for trade. Would make a good alternative if Whitewalls is fully booked or blocked because of snow.....
