Got some good caving mates coming over for a week at the start of next month and was hoping to organise a trip down DYO, but have read that all visitors need BCA insurance. How will this work with visitors from overseas. I am guessing our club in Germany has a blanket insurance cover (they are quite hot on such things over there) but will check asap. Anyone here had any experience of this already. Come to that anyone willing to lead a sightseeing trip? :)

It's probably best that you contact the Dan-yr-ogof CAC directly and ask the question:

Can't help you there, I'm no longer a leader I'm afraid :(

Does it have to be DYO? There are plenty of worthy trips in South Wales that have considerably less contrived access procedures than DYO!

You right Dunc,

am planning to take them down OFD II to Cwmbwr, Pantmawr pot, Little neath (water levels permitting) and trying to get a trip into Craig a fFynon too. Perhaps I can get someone to lead an OFD I trip as well, in which case DYO won't be needed. Its a shame though since it is such a nice compact trip for foreign visitors which manages to get a hell of a lot into a (relatively) straightforward trip (thinking here of the round trip via green canal). And the prettys make it doubly worthwhile.

I will ask Elsie when she gets back what are options are and let you all know for future reference.

Cheers
