Dog Friendly Mines

Clive has a stope to cross not far from the fixed ladder entrance, but with care and thought shouldn't be too much of a problem. The liesegang rings in there are awesome

If the OP is interested in the Alderley Edge mines the two mines most suitable :- Wood Mine and Engine Vein are controlled by the Derbyshire Caving Club. There are also a few mines which are not gated :- Scout Hole, Pillar Mine, Doc Mine, and a trial in the quarry where Evans built his chalet. If the dog hasn't been underground before these would give it an easy introduction.

Is that a very young Keiran Rooney there?

At OP very welcome to Alderley any time... THere have been a good few dogs underground over the years!

I took Ted the Terrierist down Wood Mine on the 2013 AN costume trip -

I did make the mistake of trying the "candle in a lump of clay on't Bradda" mode of lighting, there was wax all over me and the dog by the end of the trip...

Just had a look and a photo on the internet makes me seem to believe its the very high adiit you can see fro lakeside cafe at BF
look again at the map. If you are sitting in the cafe and look up what you are probably seeing is the incline which runs up to the quarry but since there is a ridge between you and the quarry the incline runs through a long tunnel. I think the tunnel portal might be what you see from there as an adit. When things are more back to normal I'll try and take a photo of that view and post here. Not sure when exactly that'll be (my issue is family illness rather than Covid, so even harder to predict)

Yeah, that incline sorts the men from the boys.
Paul, if you go up to Cwm and then turn left over the partially washed away bridge and go through the small garden area near the slate pyramids...? Follow the track up and up the steps, that takes you to Wrysgan.
We'll do it when you're here at the end of the month. And the Lakeside cafe will be open by then too. Breakfast sorted!

Good tip Phil found it easy on your instructions ,nice morning trip and no to far to walk in the pouring rain. That is a huge chamber not as high as Minllyn but very impressive none the less
