Seems to have come from ukcaving via Wikipedia:
"Alum Pot is a pothole with a large open shaft at a surface elevation of 343 metres (1,125 ft)[2]

2. 'Alum Pot main shaft' ukcaving.com. Retrieved 21 October 2016."

Is the book also suggesting that Jingle Pot and Hurtle Pot are on Simon Fell?

Maybe the compiler should have consulted the Cave Diving Group's Northern Sump Index or the definitive Northern Caves Volume 2 guide, or that useful website which shows northern caves on a map. Or the many other useful online sources which give far more accurate information than (s)he seems to be satisfied with.

We had the same sort of stuff published about Pridhamsleigh Cavern. More or less inviting anyone to visit without mentioning that you had to cross private land. On a recent trip I was pressure washing formations with the great Mr O'Doc and two visitors ambled in. No caving gear just anoraks and a light. So the great Mr O' Doc kidnapped them for two hours and herded them down to the lake chamber for photo models. I rather doubt they ever went in a cave again. Mr O. did write to the book publisher reminding them of their responsibilty for readers safety and access restrictions but nothing came of it.

Bemused young lady kidnapped in Prid.

Well – is that a good thing? OK, they 'didn't know the ropes', but at least they were adventurous enough and motivated enough to have a go, so is putting them off a good thing?
I don't know about you, TOR, but when I was a kid we got up to all sorts of stuff that would, quite possibly, be frowned on nowadays. So give them their due.
