Early Exploration of Lancaster Hole

I have recently come across a six foolscap hand typed article by J Aspin dated 1948 (but which refers to a future date of 1950 so may have been written with hindsight) titled The Discovery of the Far Reaches - Lancaster Hole 1948. It describes the exploration of East Montague Passage (now called the High Level Route) to Oxbow Corner, Main Line Terminus, Stop Pot and onwards to Gypsum Caverns (Perfection Passage) by Cornes et al (cavers are referred to by two initials) beyond Leakey's initial solo limit at Bob's Boss. This is not referenced in CRG Transactions 9(2) 1967 nor in The Ease Gill System by Jim Eyre (BCRA) 1989.

Has anyone come across this before, and if so where was it published?

Suggest you contact Dave Judson & ask him if anything like it is in the BSA archive. You'll find an email via the BCRA website.

Judders says that all that material is now in the BCRA Library & that's the place to look.

Hi Beardy,

Could be but all the bound NPC copies of CRG NLs are at Greenclose. Should have looked before I left!

Seems like it might be the original script, and is certainly written in an animated style that would suit public speaking.
