Easegill boulder collapse, near miss

Making our way from Eureka junction to Stop pot last sat 4th, whilst moving along at stream level you reach a point after going through a narrow section in a boulder choke you have to start climbing up, a few of us had scrambled up over the boulders when just behind me i heard a rumble and a crash, this turned out to be the 1 ton ish boulder i had just climbed over slid off when the next caver pulled on it, luckily we all dived out of the way and no-one was hurt.
Apparantly, this boulder was only just touching at one end which snapped off suddenly without warning, all seems to be stable now and nothing else moved, i am not saying the whole area is dangerous but its makes you realise that even over well worn sections that you take for granted are safe, there can be hidden dangers in the form of hairline cracks that are obviously opening up a little each time, i will be a lot more mindful of stuff resting on end points in the future
