Anybody suffered with this ? I woke up with a golf ball sized lump on the end of my left elbow 2 weeks ago, anti inflammatory tablets have helped a lot, but its still sore as hell and stopping me caving !

Yup!, get it regularly in elbows, wrists & knuckles, Non-steroidals (NSAID'S), (Ibuprofin) and rest are the best remedy I've found, if anyone knows differently, I, too, would be grateful! (y)

If you are taking Ibuprofen regularly you really need to go to the doctors and get some Lansoprazole tablets to protect your stomach. Usually bursitis clears up in a few weeks with or without Ibuprofen.

If you're ever in the Mendips then talk to Tom Chapman as he knows all about it & if you don't get it sorted then it can lead to serious complications.  Took a long time to treat & involved a lot of IM injections.  If you don't know him then drop me a line & I'll put you in touch.

Thats interesting, I religiously eat something before taking Ibuprofin (as per instructions), does Lansoprazole negate this requirement?

Certainly not, but boy has it improved my stomach (though the ongoing negative gall bladder situation may help quite a bit as well.)

If you may find hemp ointment, use it! Much better than ibuprofen or others products of pharmaceutical groups. Seriously.

Tried it, and many other aromatherapy, homeopathy, Bo-Tec, and other alternatives. In a severe case they don't work, believe me, I've tried!; surprised you didn't suggest Almold oil with additives, (Eucalyptus, Lavender, etc.)

May I suggest seeing your GP ?
Not wanting to criticise some of the suggestions, but they may well not be the best....

Perhaps a medical opinion from a sufferer might be helpful at this juncture. Firstly there are two forms at least. One of these is a pure inflammatory process with swelling but relatively little inflammation. Then there is the infective version -the one I had. I probably grazed my elbow caving and it got infected. I woke in the night with a fever and a swelling the size of a golfball on my right elbow. It took a long course of antibiotics and three weeks to subside. 20 years later the swelling returned spontaneously and it is still there. I have a granular feel (like a bean bag) to the elbow but it doesn't bother me - just other people! One treatment is to aspirate it (draw out the fluid) and inject cortisone (if it is non infective). You will find in future if you are like me that if you really hammer it it will swell (Shakespeare's Cave and a trip to the duck and through it did a good job).

Take ibuprofen 600 mg by all means if it hurts but if it doesn't leave it alone.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I didn't write anything about "aromatherapy, homeopathy, Bo-Tec, and other alternatives". I wrote about real hemp ointment, I made for myself and my friends. And which I use too if I have elbow bursitis. REAL one, not a marketing brand!  :spank:
