We're chuffed to bits to introduce you to Katie, our brilliant new cafe manager, if you've not already met her. She's bringing fresh energy and delicious ideas to our cosy spot above the Inglesport shop.

Katie's been busy whipping up some mouthwatering treats. But this is just the beginning. We're committed to supporting local food and drink suppliers, so you can look forward to new weekly cakes and specials to tickle your taste buds.

We want YOUR input on how Inglesport Cafe should evolve. Fancy a book signing or reading? How about using the space for community events? Drop us a comment with your ideas – we're all ears.

Pop in for a brew and a natter with Katie. She'd love to meet you and hear your thoughts on making Inglesport Cafe the heart of our community. 👍

Only if you want 90% of customers to go next door!

1) I’ll not be clicking a link to visit the day mail
2) it was a joke with reference to last time someone mentioned vegan food and a whole load of numpties near on had an aneurysm

The cafe at White Scar cave often has vegan cakes, however, they stopped advertising them as vegan. If they are labelled as vegan they usually go to waste ('waste' being me, if I'm on shift!). Not labelling them means they sell just as quickly as the other cakes. People are weird.

Why would anyone want a fruit scone without the meat? 😲

How is that weird??

Vegan cakes don't taste as nice as proper cakes. I wouldn't buy one if advertised honestly.

Only place I regularly eat cake is at the yoga studio....not because it's vegan but because it is sime of the nicest, lightest cakes I've had

It's weird because they are popular and sell out quick with no complaints. Not labelling something as vegan is not being dishonest. Labelling it 'not suitable for vegans' would be.

I bought a fabulous-looking slice of cake earlier this year (mentioned in another thread IIRC) and couldn't even swallow a single morsel as it was egregiously bland, putty-like and downright dreadful. I sheepishly took it back to the counter staff to state there appeared to be something wrong with the cake and they then admitted that it was vegan and perhaps that's why it had an unusual texture and flavour at which point I thanked them for the insight and said they were welcome to do whatever they liked with it as I did not wish to eat any more of it, even offering them to try a bit each so they could find out for themselves how it tasted. They all declined. It was binned. About £4, if memory serves. Lesson learnt - never buy anything vegan.
