If you had a "like" button, people could effectively vote for the winners of competitions :D

You're so right - will look into it again in the New Year....

Looks like a caption competition was a fab idea - how the heck are we going to choose a winner!??

Just choose the one you and Badlad like best, and blow democracy!  Owning the forum must have some privileges, surely?

Is there a subfora for just the comps? They seem to be spread all over. I sont always check each section so i might miss. Or perhaps sticky them to show everywhere. I mean there is a current prize for technical tip winner announced on dec 20. It is 24 and i dont see any announcement as of yesterday (havnt looked around the fora today yet).

Hi Amy,

The Top technical Tip prize was ages ago so the comp is over and the prize awarded - however folks are still commenting on the thread.....

Competitions do tend to be posted on various threads, however I always highlight them on the home page, so keep an eye out there.  Hope that helps  :)

Happy Christmas, Pegasus

Is there a way to browse the threads with 'recent posts' other than the few listed at the bottom of the page? on other forums i quite like hitting 'recent topics' button to quickly scan down recent discussions. It doesn't bring up recent individual posts, it brings up recently 'active' topics in chronological order. It would possibly be a way to encourage people to input into a wider range of 'areas' of the forum.

Thanks for all the good work.

Tim

It only lists the last 10 or so most recently active topics, and on a busy day, that isn't nearly enough.

There is "show unread posts" and "show new replies" under your username up top  there ^^^^^, but I don't think that's exactly what you want either.

yes i've seen the list on the home page but as mentioed, its not really 'long' enough if you're just checking in every few days and want to look back in time. The new posts since last visit pretty much does the job though - thanks for that. :)

I could make the list of new posts on the home page longer (If I can remember how)....  :sneaky:

Thoughts?

Yeah, making the recent posts list longer would be great... I only manage to get on here once every couple of weeks or so and end up missing most things  :)

Just to contrast with the above, I think it's a fairly long as it is, filling a whole browser page.
Then again I check the forum regularly so they don't build up.

What if the "Recent Topics" heading was actually a button? so that with one click on the homepage you would go to a page with a much longer list.
This would also remove the fuss of finding the "unread posts" section (which I think is rather pointless as it shows less posts than on the homepage) and then the "all unread posts" from there (which is a useful section).

My thoughts anyway
