The Axbridge Caving Group are showing three caving films, all are welcome -
Venue - Hunter's Lodge Inn, Priddy.
Date ? 8 March 2009
Time ? 8pm
Albanian Expedition 1995
On 17th August 1995 the trip began, an expedition to a country with some of the world?s most beautiful caves and one of the worlds most firmly closed doors to the outside world. The expedition was a great success with many difficulties, some captured on film, and an important new cave system was found, partially explored and captured in a unique film. In addition to the caving footage there are stunning views over the surrounding mountains, interviews with local villagers and a visit to a local Arts Festival.
A 42 minute long film
Albanian Expedition 2008
Picture a cave high up in the mountains, above a remote village on the Montenegro Kosovo border, never explored, known only by local shepherds as a place to swallow goats. Picture a cave so cold, it is only accessible for 6 weeks of the year, the rest of the time capped by snow. Seven members of Axbridge Caving Group return to explore Vaso?s Shepella in the Northern Alps of Albania, a promising vertical cave first discovered by a small team of ACG in 1995. The political situation has been too dangerous to return, until now.
A 55 minute long film.
Daren Cilau 2008
The film takes its viewers from the surface, through the wet and confined entrance crawls and the passages and climbs beyond (with survey overlays at times), to the camp. Here, the legendary hospitality of the Hard Rock Cafe shows us that the team has plenty of gin and the cocktails in are huge! And then there?s the push of for glory in the Ken Pearce Rock Dig.
A 30 minute long film.
