Anyone know if the in-situ stuff from beyond Eating House is, well, in-situ?

Cheers

Wasn't in August/September last year. Don't see why anyone would replace since then.

Just to remind folks, DCA is only responsible for safety of P bolts and pull-through, anything else is the responsibility of the clubs/individuals that installed it, use it at your own risk.

Separate thought, why were these often left rigged? It's not a massive amount of rope to carry down and its not like many people go down valentines/filthy 5 and back up these anymore!

Geology wasn't normally left rigged and then I remember a trip carrying a load of firehose down there for St Valentines and someone left a rope on Geology with a couple of bright blue twistlock krabs. That rope was on there for years and the krabs seized up. It's been left rigged on and off since but there's no reason for it to be.

Cheers all.

Well aware about trusting in-situ blah blah blah, though I guess it is worth putting out there.

I was just being lazy is all and casting out. Been down there when I needn't have carried kit, and took nothing and it's bit me on the arse - or at least I had to turn round.

Perhaps the question would have been better phrased ..."in-situ at the minute?".

I'll pack it anyway.

I went down to East Canal on 21st December last year, and there was no rope on Garlands. There was in-situ rope on the Plug Hole Traverse, the climb down to Corkscrew Aven and the cascade before the Far Curtain (although we rigged that anyway). Nothing on Spout Hall.

Hope this helps.

Indeed I do - I'm always getting mixed up with those two pitches!
There should be a law against having more than one pitch beginning with "G" - especially in a cave which begins with "G".  :coffee:
