    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

GOWER WEEKEND FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
JULY 8TH – JULY 10TH
Field 12 A
BANK FARM, HORTON, GOWER
Cost £4 per person per night.
For info on site facilities and directions visit
www.bankfarmleisure.co.uk

Although this is a family holiday site in the height of the season, I have booked a whole field set aside from the main site. There are some electrical hook-ups here, which I expect will be allocated on a first come basis.

Situated on the cliffs overlooking Horton and Porteynon bay, the site has all the usual holiday facilities such as bars, restaurants and an indoor heated pool. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead at all times and you scoop their poop.

The Gower peninsular was the UK's first Area of Outstanding natural Beauty. There are many activities that can be enjoyed over this weekend such as water sports, climbing, walking, caving, artistic pursuits or just simply enjoy the superb secluded sandy beaches.
There will not be any fixed timetable of events. This is a fun, relaxed, weekend which you can enjoy in your own way. Caving is not compulsory but we have access arranged for the 2 largest caves of Gower: Llethrid Swallet and Tooth Cave, which we plan to visit on Saturday. These are of medium difficulty.
On Sunday morning there will be a trip to Ogof Wyntog. A short but enjoyable cave suitable for beginners.

IF YOU NEED ANY CAVING KIT PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP.

On Saturday evening there are plans for a Beach BBQ. Please bring a disposable BBQ, and your own grub and drink.
There is a small grocery shop on the site but I suggest you do your shopping at Swansea either at Asda (Morriston) exit M4 junction 45 or Tesco (Fforestfach) exit M4 at junction 47 which are on the way as there are no large shopping opportunities on Gower.

I was thinking it would be a good idea to take a few barrels of beer and cider with us to the Gower. :drink: A couple of years ago we got a 35 pint barrel of Butcombe for £40 but that only lasted four of us one night! I think they also do 70 pint barrels as well, so we could get a couple of those. Thatchers do cider £5.50 for 5 litres. What does everybody else think?

Mel and I talked about this. A good idea for the bitter drinking contingent but it struck us that a lot of people don't drink bitter as a first choice. I think it's probably best for evryone to bring the drink and quantity of their choice. But thank you for the suggestion!

How about a trip to a South Wales Cave on the way back from the Gower?
