Christmas has got P-bolts.
When we went we looked at NC2 and played guess the rope length, we made the mistake of not taking a spare rope or two just in case our estimates were wrong! It actually makes it more interesting guessing the lengths and not knowing what the rigging is like rather than following the dot-to-dots.
I don't have NC2 to hand so haven't a clue what pitch numbers/names are.
Heres a rough idea of what we did:
Took a 35m rope for the entrance, rigging from the surface and using all the rebelays on the way down found the rope too short! (we used rope for last pitch to get down this last bit of entrance pitch) - I would take possibly 45m for that next time I go.
We then had about 30m rope which covered the next pitch and the sloping climb to a further short pitch.
This is where it joins with Grange Rigg.
There was then another short pitch with 1 p-bolt but we managed to climb it, that was followed quickly by another short drop by this time we had run out of rope but used a few slings to climb down it, 6m rope would cover the 2nd short drop but thats just tied into 1 anchor and with no backup..
The last pitch then follows and as we had no rope left we had to make our exit, but we reckoned 10-15m rope for that.
