My club has got it's annual do at Station Inn (Ribblehead) this weekend and stupidly I've left
it too late to book in at the Bunkhouse and there's no way I'm shelling out £60 a room
for B and B on my own.
Is there anywhere else nearby cheap? Was thinking of maybe walking (staggering) back to the Hill Inn and
camping if that is still allowed? It appears to be according to the Good Beer Guide but need some advice.
Cheers all

Why can't you call upon the "Beer Scooter", you know that method of mythical transport that gets you all the way home and into bed and you will have no knowledge of it in the morning.

I am told they sometimes break down and you could end up in a ditch, I had this once ........ most annoying

Just a thought.

I don't think the Hill Inn does camping anymore but the phone number is 015242 41256 so you could chat to the pub owners about it

Have you thought about wild camping?
isnt wild camping dangerous?

No, but wild drinking is....  ::)

Having to admit you failed to book the accomodation is definitely dangerous..

Perhaps you could 'hole up' in one of those little caves that abound near the Station Inn? I'm sure you could find a dry oxbow...

I've spent a night or two in a bivvy bag under the viaduct itself but it does have a tendency to catch the weather!

We were only debating this at the weekend, that alcohol can make a very comfortable pillow when crashed out after a heavy session. Not that I can speak from experience you understand.  :halo:

I had considered wild camping over behind the Station Inn.
Shouldn't be a problem especially with the amount of ale I will be putting away.  (y)

Is the Craven cottage at Horton in ribblesdale too far?? Ithink its about £3.50 / night for non members.
Theyre a friendly bunch if you can get hold of someone with a key or if theres space..

The station inn used to do camping, do they not anymore?

Although as a caver i'd just go for the 'something will turn up if i drink enough' option.

Well that's me sorted. Combination of Messrs Butcombe, Tubby and Beck's suggestions.
Take the tent and stick it up somewhere beyond the pub.
If it's too grim back to the car.
All assuming that I don't get an offer to kip on someone else's floor. Obviously I would turn down any female offers though. My principles are very strong on this matter after a gallon or so of ale.
