Hillocks stories

I was sat in Peak Cavern last saturday waiting for the rest of my group who had gone up Pickerings Passage.
Several times I was sure I could hear them returning, but each time it was nothing. I was frequently able to hear voices, indeed i hear them in most places I sit undergound. Weighing the evidence carefully, in order of likelihood I put the noises down to
1: water
2: external vibration
3: very distant (but real) people - echoes
4: blood flowing in my ears and other body sounds
5: my imagination

Ghosts don't exist and therefore don't appear in my list.

Nevertheless I am sensitive to 'atmosphere', and if I am feeling creeped out (very rarely) then I usually put it down to my subconcious trying to tell me something, like unsafe, overdue, lost, or last but by no means least the low-level cave-man/animal part of my brain craving daylight again!

Once again though, ghosts still don't figure in my list.

However, the idea of being grabbed by invisible hands from below and pulled down is unpleasant to most people, and if you start telling stories about a particular place (which coincidentally you are about to visit) then the more gullible members of your party will be creeped out.

Caving involves getting over personal fears for most people; heights, sumps, very tight spaces and of course the dark!
