An hour or so of entertainment can be had in Thistle & Runscar. If you don't mind getting a bit damp do all bits if both.

From the village of Horton, there's plenty of options.
Stroll up to Sell Gill Holes for easy SRT.
A short drive up a side road gains a selection of short but fun trips;  Birkwith, Old Ing, Dismal, Red Moss, Calf Holes-Browgill.
Or up the main road, Long Churn Caves / Alum Pot.

And near Long Churn/Alum there's also Borrins Moor, Wilsons, Gillgarth, and a variety of shorter caves.

Or a harder trip can be had in Washfold.
Little Hull Pot...CNCC permit required.
PYG Pot.....CNCC permt required.
Red Moss pot for some easy wallowing.
Or if you're prepared for a long walk there's loads of stuff on the Allotment(Permits for some..check the CNCC website).
Loads to do from Horton for all abilities.

If you Ard' and have plenty of rope and theres a few of you alum to diccan exchange is good

On a similar vein a Sell Gill exchange isn't a bad trip if your not quite as 'Ard but still fancy an SRT trip.

Second that, A fantastic trip and one of my faves.  Just do your homework first as regards to the weather! You'll need a week or so with no rain and a decent forecast for the day.  Make sure everyone has a whistle and understands SUD signals as you won't be able to hear each other shouting 'rope free' because of the crashing water!!  Fantastic day out but dont hang about as you'll get cold........and wet!!
If considering Diccan then also consider a back up cave in case of wet weather as Mother Nature is not always in the best of moods and it's likely she wont let you in!  If shes in a good mood then youre in for a real treat!
Enjoy

Dismal Hill (mentioned above) through to Old Ings is a great short trip.  No tackle, no permit required, but plenty of variety, including a testing squeeze.  Neoprene is recommended though, unless it's a very warm day.

If you came to the ladder after the rope traverse along the stream, then you were already in DH.
At the top of the ladder, a crawl in bedding leads to a waterfall climb and the link (tight) to Old Ings is up to the left from the following passage.

If coming the other way, then simply continue along the stream where it is less deep, looking out for a short climb up into bedding on the right. This is low, but leads quite soon the the DH entrance climb.
