How Peak Cavern got its (other) name?

This song was first performed for King James I in August 1621, and describes a macabre feast served up to the Devil in a cave in Derbyshire by the gypsy chief Cock Lorrel. It became very popular, and its lyrics were reprinted numerous times throughout the 17th Century as the broadside ballad "A strange banquet".
