Just to be a massive pedant, I would be very suprisef if there was such a thing as a 'BMC approved anchor' - they tend to be much less directly involved in bolting than the BCA. Plus they probably wouldn't want to take responsibility in that way anyway - would detract from the general principle of self-reliance in climbing.

Are you sure it's wise to attempt a complete descent of Hull Pot at the moment? Underground conditions aren't especially dry currently in the Dales.

Try and read the "Damming and Diving at Hull Pot" chapter in Gemmell & Myers' excellent caving book: "Underground Adventure" before the weekend if possible. This is the best exploration account and it will probably give you an insight into why this is maybe better done in extended dry weather.

Hull Pot Beck has a very large catchment and the big pitch can be a fairly hostile place, especially if the water roaring down it is cold at this time of year. Take care if you do decide to go down there this weekend.

I've been down Hull pot a few times, the most recent being last weekend. I would suggest dropping down on the east face and using a ladder belayed from one of the large boulders. I try to upload one of the pictures in order to give you a better idea.

If you are still planning to do it from the waterfall it best not to do it if any water is flowing (it was completely dry last weekend). The anchors are located right in the stream way and it would be quite easy to slip and fall if the stream was flowing. Also bear in mind that the anchors are for abseiling so they are set back from the edge and there is no rebelay so be careful of rope rub.

Regards

We rigged the ladder down a slot just to the left of where I'm stood (I'm the one in blue)

Take some good old black Marlow for the underground pitch and get on with it. Traditional rigging! No P hangers back in 1984  when I went down there and I bet there are still none. Oh, and don't bother if it is going to rain.
