I got round it by taking her with me and she thoroughly enjoyed it, not sure she's up for some of that stuff though

i tried taking my Mum underground - don't think it's stopped her worrying (though she's relatively confident i won't be stupid!! ) it just confirmed that i was a bit weird to like it undergound i think...

...oh well, it's not for everyone!

I'm sure most cavers mums would love caving, its getting them to try it thats the problem. My mum certainly did. :?

Having taken my Dad and various step siblings, I think they are split between thinking I am insane, and being dead keen on going again.

My mother has been lots before but only in NZ!! She likes it but wouldn't do all that we do. Would like a dry cave no water that you can walk in and get a coffee afterwards from the cafe!!

I suppose that the flip side of this question is, A Mum saying " My kids think I'm crazy because I go Caving...I wonder if I can get them to try It"

I recon that there is at least 3 on this forum that could say that..... , I goes for Dads too, I'm sure :p

I'm one of the three. I've managed to get both of mine down caves .... unfortunately one has turned into a couch potato and the other into a climber .... given my views on all things vertical, I guess I can just regard that as normal teenage rebellion.

I tried taking my dad once- i'd tried taking him climbing before but knew he had vertigo and it turned out that yes, he did, as for the caving, he seems to get a bit claustrophobic too!
Maybe i should take the milkman and see what happens?

And I'm another caving mum who's taken a little 'un underground. She loved it, but seems to prefer climbing at the moment. Wouldn't even dream of taking my own mother though, she's just not the caving type.

My eldest is 19 and caves as much as he can. I could still burn him off through the traverses in Juniper Gulf a year ago, but I wonder how much longer I will stay ahead....

The two little ones have been caving a couple of times. Bastian was only 3 when he went the first time (Yordas Cave) and wondered where the light switch was!

One tip for all caving parents...."Last one into bed is no potholer" generates an immediate rush to get into pyjamas and brush teeth. They fall for it every time :D

I once took my Dad caving. I think he liked it but thought it was all a bit too small for him.
