Ireby 11 route

Can anyone update me on the easiest route into Duke Street 11 at the moment and how arduous is it. I have been to the Sump in Duke street a few times, and helped to carry out some of the pumping gear and pipes after the breakthorough had been made, but the details of the route have passed me by

Thanks

From Whirpool Chamber in Duke Street, it's a short pitch up (rope in-situ) into a crawl ~150m long, at the end is a rope climb down to the stream, head upstream a short distance to Duke St II..

Cripple creek's not that bad - you can do most of it lying down.
Bob Toogood sailed through it the other year and he's 97 - but that's the typical Eldon type for you.

Aye, it's not too bad and it misses out all that awful walking passage between the entrance pitches and Duke Street...

Thanks Guys. I did indeed ask for the easiest route, and in my experience lying down caving is not usually the easiest!

Assuming you mean Duke Street II and not Duke Street "11" - the easiest way by far is simply to go through the sump!

Not got NC3 to hand but 18m sounds like a familiar figure..?

Going through the sump is the most straightforward and easy route, but is it easy when you take into consideration all the gear you have to cart down there to undertake such a route??  :-\

Not free-diveable then?

Duke Street Sump

After an initial low section, a comfortable submerged bedding surfaces in Ireby II after a dive of 18m. There is an airbell roughly halfway through the sump but free diving should not be attempted as frequent silting can cause problems, even for a fully equipped diver
