When you saw it, was it any worse than on https://cncc.org.uk/news/20211209-jingling-pot-treefall  Is it on the move?

We had a peek today, it looks to be the same as the pics

I had a quick look whilst walking on Sat 11th. Looks easy enough with a bit of rope and some muscle power to pull it away from risk of falling down the shaft. It could then be dealt with more leisurely later. Perhaps I should of corralled the group of four heading down Aquamole into action.

There appear to be 2 trees (side by side) overhanging the shaft. Only 1 seems to be damaged, while the other looks (to my completely untrained eye) to be largely intact. While it seems reasonable to remove the damaged tree, there is the issue of what to do with the other. If it's still viable as a tree and isn't in any real danger of falling down the shaft then I guess it should be left in place. BUT this is the tree we used to rig from (and presumably some people still do?). So I would suggest that some sort of publicity is required to deter future rigging from this tree if it is left in place. At the very least, the CNCC rigging topo should be updated.

Our topo will be updated and a further announcement will be made once work is complete ;)

Thanks! So hopefully it will be fine for a few days until our caver/arboriculturalist can get to it.

Just a quick post to say that the fallen tree in Jingling has been dealt with and the entrance is safe now.

Full report and some pics to follow in a few days.

We do advise visitors to watch out for loose earth and rocks around the top arising from the disturbance.

Happy Christmas everyone
