Jugholes Adit Gate

DCA

Active member
DCA received a report that the locking mechanism on the Jugholes gate had been damaged, so this was visited and repaired this morning. The chain is now much shorter, and a new M16 bolt is held captive with nuts and washers around a maillon, which can be held with one hand whilst screwing/unscrewing the bolt with a large adjustable or 24mm spanner. Please do not try to disassemble the system, and ensure that the gate is fully locked after visits.

Thanks.

Is the old turntable cover I used for the old oil drums still there?

I found it under the bushes in the next field when Doug Nash and I fitted the oil drums in the early 1980's. It was probably from the original adit entrance a bit further down the hill.

Yeah, it's still there, just lying in the adit trench. I took this last November, but it hasn't moved.
