LIDLs Supermarkets are currently selling diving equipment, and amongst
the kit they have 3mm Kevlar coated Neoprene gloves for £6

I bought a pair today and they are superb, for dry and wet caves, and
for a bargin £6 you can buy 2 pairs.

I kid you not these are quality.........

Ah, but back on their home ground they are not a cheap as S*** supermarket. They are regarded as being mainstream and sell many things in their hypermarkets. It's rather like asking "why do Asda sell clothes?"

Every so often they export a few of their more 'select' lines to the UK. Last year a couple of the guys from work got car navigation PDA's with all Mircos**t OS, GPS and s/w for £350 - but they only brought 20 to our nearest store, so they were gone the next day!

Indeed, last year I bought some incredibly good ski wear from them. I got a set of sallopetes and a ski jacket by the manufacturer Crane Sports for about £70. They are the warmest things I have ever worn and coped well with Bulgaria (-15C) and again in Prague this year the jacket took -19C quite happily.

In a similar vein Aldi are selling LEd headlamps with 8LEDs, switchable 2, 4 or 8 on for £2.99, and also LCD backlit compasses for £10

also Chemin de Papes 2003 for £3.50

Don't buy their baked beans though.... :uhoh:
