Was going to mention Li primary AA cells, but got beaten to it. Some of the equipment I make runs on industrial Duracell AA cells, but for cold Arctic countries, I recommend Li due to their low temp operation and high current output that are needed at -20oC or more. Performance side by side is completely different, Li wins pants down as it can deliver sustained relative high current.
