Kit wanted for a new group

At last, here's a chance for all those who want to encourage younger people into caving to get involved.

I'm in the process of starting up a caving team for Scouts in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan area and we're on the scrounge for kit. Thanks to a very generous offer from another Scout team who've just upgraded, we've got lights sorted but nothing else.

Buying a whole set of kit for a group in one go is going to take a massive fund raising effort so, to help us get off the ground does anybody (individual, club, or company) have any retired, replaced or upgraded kit with some life left in it that you would be willing to donate (or at least sell very cheap) to a good cause?

Thanks in advance.

What sort of stuff are you looking for?

[Though I think the scouts would be swamped with any old clothing/boots kit I have]

Won't most peoples kit be too large for the kids? Unfortunately all my old gear is either worn out or lost.

Actually, if his reputation is anything to go by, just follow Alex round the dales and pick up the kit he looses  ;)

Thanks for the replies - we're now sorted for lights and helmets.
At the moment, we're not too worried about vertical caving we'll wait and see how it takes off before we invest too much in SRT and/or Ladders which we'd have to travel out of South Wales to get much use out of.

Other kit like tackle sacks, belts etc would be useful. Sizes of personal kit aren't really a problem Scouts and Explorer Scouts range from 11 to 18 plus a few adult helpers. So long as the kit's got some life left in it, it gives us a starting point.

Cheers
