Ladies wellies

Ladies, I need a new pair of wellies. Every pair of cheap wellies I have bought ended up falling apart after about 6 months or less so I want some that are more sturdy with adjustable calf straps and good grip. Any recommendations? I don't want canyoning boots or anything like that. So wellies only please. I don't mind spending a bit more, say up to £50 for a decent pair.

Why is it there are so many options for sporting goods for men but ladies stuff is sparse on the market.

unless you are paying big £ any wellies with calf straps - (men's or lady's) are mostly Hunter knock offs.

Probably better looking for narrower fit standard wellies.

I don't like narrower wellies as I have big calfs and can't tuck my oversuit in 😭

My wife uses Dunlop Purofort's, which she really likes. They don't have the calf straps, so maybe no good for you if that's an essential feature, but they are warm, light and tough.

I use the same as my non-caving wellies, but I wouldn't wear something so expensive underground. For caving I use whatever I can find for £1 a pair at the local car boot sale, then I don't need to worry if I get through 3 or 4 pairs a year.

Ditch the wellies, use boots. EBay, spend £20, likely to last two years or so, walk in and out more comfortable, climbs better, pantin fit improved. Only drawback is lack of shin protection: use long neo socks.....
Just because 98% of cavers are daft enough to wear wellies doesn't mean you have to follow... :))

Worth a try?

Well, tomcat, 'When I were a lad' I wore boots for caving for years – probably a dozen years – then I started wearing wellies, and would never go back to boots – daft or not.

I find certain wellies have far better grip than boots I've tried (seems to be a result of more flexible sole giving greater surface area on the rocks)

I've tried boots before but grip was rubbish so that's why I switched to wellies

These are fantastic! I may have to try them!

I use Screwfix Trench for caving, which have quite wide tops - in fact I can't get my AV oversuit legs over them, which is frustrating. But they do last for ages and aren't expensive. They have size 7 online, but I guess it depends what size you are. I suspect they may not go any lower. I also wouldn't take my Puroforts underground ;)

Yeah see that's the thing. There's far more stuff available in men's sizes but I only have size 4 or 5 feet!

They've got these in size 4, and steel toecaps too ;)

Nowadays I wear short Dunlop wellies due to the size of my calves. I don't think they're specifically for ladies but may be wrong. I also don't remember if they do them in sizes smaller than 7! I think I'm on my third or fourth pair, and were around a tenner on Amazon last I purchased them. I always struggled to get normal height wellies to fit and would cut slits in the back of them sometimes to try to make them comfortable but it never really worked.

I've found they last me a year or two. For me they always split at the back of the ankle, unfortunately. They have a decent amount of grip left on them; I just get fed up of immediately having wet feet.

With shorter wellies, your feet may get wet a bit sooner than they would with normal height ones, and there's never any point tucking the oversuit legs into them because they're too short for it to stay tucked in. But since I splash through every puddle and I'd never been able to fit the oversuit into the normal height wellies anyway on account of said large calves... Meh.

They are sold out and not going to restock 😭
Still have size 3 & ... 10 ! These look similar, but no idea on performance:
