Last Pitch Alum Pot

Over the Hill

New member
A group in front of me last week rigging the last pitch in Alum managed to dislodge a largesih block close to the P Hangers.

Decided to give it a miss after that so not sure how safe or not the area of rock is now supporting those hangers.

Thought it was worth a mention.  :coffee:

Oh and some little shit in one of the many groups there under instruction that day lobbed a few rocks down the shaft while we where there just missing us.  o_O

Bloody heck, someone died some decades back because someone chucked some rocks down.

Mabel Binks killed in 1936 by a stone probably thrown by a member of a cycling group.

Would this be the hang on the true left or the true right of the pitch?

In relation to the 1936 incident; nearly happened to me once. I'd just bought a 90metre length of rope and did the big pitch in Alum. I was in the process of taking up slack to start ascending when a stone landed right near me, another one followed quickly behind but by this time I'd sort shelter under the overhang.
