Looking for a small tackle sac

Hi,

I've been looking for a small tackle sac (<10 litres) with shoulder straps but every small sac I've found only has one strap or a handle. I know Beast has had exactly that kind of a sac I'm looking for because a friend of mine has got one but I can't find them anymore. Do you have any suggestions?

SRT bag? or something that size? I've got one but can't recall the make, bought in Ingleton a few years back so might not be available now, but you never know. Warmbac do a two shoulder strap srt bag..

I already have a tackle sac which is 14 litres if I recall. Now I'm looking for a sac which is smaller than that. Primarily, I would like to have a bag in which to carry my slave flash, small first aid kit, water bottle, and caving snack. For them, my current sac is all too big. I think the Beast Junior is over 10 litres, is it?

It seems pretty simple to stow your caving flash inside your oversuit, also your snack bar and FAK; your drink can be a SIGG bottle attached to your belt. Hey presto, no bag required!

I have found it quite inconvenient to have something clipped on my belt. I have a Pelicase for my slave flash, and even that is often in my way when I don't want it to be. And when I have two slave flashes it's even more inconvenient. I also have to carry an extra knee support and a bandage just in case because I have some troubles with my knee :cautious:. Not so much stuff that I would need my bigger bag but just too much to carry without any bag at all. I was just browsing the Up and Under website, and found this: http://www.upandunder.co.uk/Outdoor/Caving/Tackle-Bags/P---SRT-Bag---11459/ . I was wondering if it would be suitable.

I have the Warmbac bag and think it's rather good.  In it I tend to carry a small (500mL) sig bottle, a couple of other similar size bottles (one with nuts and raisins, one for first aid kit) and a small tupperware box for cave snacks, so sounds like a similar amount of gear to what you want to carry. I generally have a reasonable amount of room left over though so it might not be much smaller than your current bag. I really like the fact it has an internal pocket though.

I would suggest you go ahead and buy the Warmbac bag from Up and Under. I've got 2 of these and have been impressed with their performance. Solid material, comfortable carry with the twin shoulder straps and the flattened profile makes it easier to drag along behind you. Not ridiculously expensive either. Only drawback could be that it is larger than you might think you need (we can get our smaller drill in one) but better to have too much space rather than too little in my opinion.

Thank you for your suggestions. I must now consider which bag to purchase. I don't want a too similar bag which I already have. The flat profile of the Warmbac bag is at least very different from my Phoenix bag. It also has that internal pocket which is an advantage too.

I know it doesn't meet your criteria of having shoulder straps, if fact it has no straps or handles, just a metal D ring, but I use one of these

http://www.berniescafe.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7_27&products_id=657

It's big enough for a flash, drink etc. (I can just about ram my SRT k it into it)  and I either clip it to my belt or have it on a sling over my shoulder. I also have a bit of cord with a loop on the end sticking out of the drain hole. This allows me to put a Krab on the bottom and clip the sling top to bottom like a old fashioned duffel bag.

I've got one of these and I've rigged it with two lengths of cord from the drain hole to the d ring so it can be carried like a rucksack. I find it distracting to have it hanging from my belt.

Tony at Starless River does a twin-strap MTDE bag which I think is about 10l (the minipro).
It has a flat rectangular profile which sits nicely on the back, and an internal velcro pocket.

It's listed as 20l on the SR site, but I'm sure that's a typo - I don't have mine with me to take dimensions off at the moment, but it's definitely a large SRT bag, not a small tackle bag, if you know what I mean.

Only just stumbled across this thread...
I think Finish folk have trouble with their tackle sacks  ;)
I'll try and pick one up for you if I find one the same as mine, probably need to check postage first though  :-\
