...Big Gulley Route;

Waterproof watch, last seen on first underground traverse - I can supply description and 'photo if required

Lump Hammer, last seen on final traverse, must now be at the bottom of main shaft.

It was very wet and very noisy in there yesterday...

Glenn - give us basic details of the watch. It might just turn up in one of the sumps at some stage.

(Lost items often come to rest in sumps where the flow is generally far slower than in streamways - sumps are good places to look for lost items. If the watch is very valuable I'll offer to go and look in Rowten Sumps if you want? Likely to be more successful if we wait till the water's a bit clearer than at present though.)

Thanks for the offer John, but it's not valuable - I bought it at "a good price" in a sale. It's a Christopher Ward "Kingfisher" (quartz, black face, steel bezel) apparently water proof to 30atm, which I thought would make a good caving watch, but I suspect the rubber strap was not up to it....

Hi Glenn,
Just for back from Rowten. Did your hammer have a shaft of the 'conventional' length, in a rather fetching two-tone yellow and green finish? If so, it now has a rather short shaft of a single colour only (yellow), while the been bit is attached to a tatty bit of cord. :)
BitterEnd hs it ? I'm sure you could arrange a drop-off / pick up point.

Cheers,
Fulk

Hi Fulk, you describe it perfectly :) Many thanks for recovering it  :clap: :clap:, if it could be left in Bernies that would be great.

Cheers,
Glenn

May be a week or two before I get to Bernies, hope you are not in a rush for it. We did have a look for your watch but reading where you were again, I don't think we were looking the right place.

I had a look around the ledge above the big pitch, on both sides of the iittle 'bridge', but could see no sign of a watch.

No hurry for the return of the lump hammer, and many thanks for taking the time to look for the watch.

Cheers,
Glenn
