Mallorca - potential access problems

Caving is not mentioned, but as we walk to the caves it's bound to affect us. Bad news; I love Mallorca.

Simple really; if nobody likes it they should go elsewhere and thus not pay to have their fun, as money always talks (remember how much damage keeping walkers etc away from the countryside in 2001 did in this country?)

Hmm, so other people are running a business on your land and causing you to shell out maintenance costs. Why shouldn't you take a cut of their profits?

Fair enough in that statement, Graham. If my understanding is correct then this stretch is not part of any open access/CRoW act land (please correct me if I'm wrong) so it sounds like individuals can gain access but anyone else pays. If the model of groups paying works out maybe it might be extended to individuals? Yes ok, still private land, but sets a precedent for stream/river access - ask a canoe-er (is that even a word?) what they think of that.

Who pays these costs, are they absorbed by the outdoor instructors/companies or will the increased costs be passed on to the paying public which could mean outdoor activity becoming so costly that only the well-to-do can indulge in it?

Or alternatively they could join a club & indulge on a not for profit basis. Just a thought.

Accessing CRoW land for profit is not allowed without landowners consent, many outdoor activity companies leave themselves open to legal action on this point.
