on the "caves prone to flooding " page, can i clarify the grid references
"NGR ST 55 / 5312.5131"
NGR - National Grid Reference, erm ok
ST - Grid Square
55/ - ??????
5312.5131 - 8 fig grid withing the ST square


So what does "55 /" mean? is it the OS 1:25k map number?

Wig used to write them that way in Mendip Underground, as well. I never did understand why. The most you need is: NGR ST 53125131.

ST55 tells you which is the relevant 1:10000 mapsheet. From NGR ST 5312 5131

ah the old 1:10k map sheets which nobody (even the military) uses any more and you probably can't easily get hold of :)
