Missing: Helmet & Light at The Wessex

My Helmet & Light went missing at the Wessex Cave Club Cottage over the weekend (25th/26th October).  It was in the changing room on the top of my kit in my kitbag on Saturday night but wasn't there Sunday morning.  If you've picked it up by accident or someone moved it and you see it around the cottage somewhere could you send me a PM?

White Petzl Ecrin Roc
Black Scurion with old style (no flat blade bolt) battery lid fixing.
Black Fenix back up light fixed on with shock cord (rear cord worn through to the rubber).

In theory there should be a purple label inside with my name, address and telephone number but it may have washed off, it sometimes does.

Thanks.

I'm very sorry to hear that your lamp has gone "missing". I know of a couple of other people whose lamps have gone "missing" from caving club huts in the recent past. Unfortunately I expect that as lamps get more expensive, even more of them are likely to go "missing".

Seriously, it's a shame that you can no longer leave your kit lying around in huts and changing rooms like you used to be able to do; but it seems there are ever more thieving bastards around. Be honest, who could possibly have accidentally taken this lamp and helmet, there aren't that many Scurions around yet are there? Lock your kit in your car when you're not around; I always do.

I hope you get it back.

Hi Seejay.

It is quite distressing to hear quite literaly hundreds of pounds worth of gear has disappeared.(accidentaly or deliberately)

One thing that may be worth following up is first of all
1) youve done the right thing posting here, its a good place to start and as you say may have been accidental.
2) Contact scurion....see if any one orders a charger only.....!!!
3) I will be back up at the wessex this coming this weekend, I will be putting my head together with other members who were there at the weekend to comple a list of all the guests and members (including me) who were booked in at the weekend or where seen in the club.
My hope is then to email everyone to check their kit to see if theyve picked it up by accident...

It will be a lot of work so id appreciate it f anyone comes forward in the meantime please let us know on the forum.

I hope im not alone in thinking Clubs cant really afford to be seen to be not pro active in the recovery of hundreds of pounds of gear or an unhealthy presidence may be set....

I sincerely hope it is returned to you.
In the meantime could you please PM me which group you were part of.

Thanks.
Carmen (Wessex Cave club)

Every Scurion has a unique serial number inside the body of the lamp behind the glass. Rolf would normally be able to tell you the serial number he sent you.

There would normally be no reason to change or remove it so would provide a means of identifying your lamp.

Good idea. Insist on a strip search (of light) on any one you encounter with a scurion!

We will soon have the culprit!

I'd volunteer, only I wouldn't know a scurion if it bit me.
