I find moving smileys and avatars very distracting and annoying.

I've just been reading a trip report but gave up because it had too many moving smileys in it.

So if you like  :D  :tease: :ras:   :spank: :icon_321: :yucky:   etc go for option one.

If you find them annoying option two is for you.

If you have no opinion click on option three - or don't bother voting.....

Subtle ones are ok, like if a face slightly moves. But ones like this one  :D are horrible

A thorny subject - some people love 'em, some hate 'em - it's unlikely that it's possible to please everyone.

If you use Firefox and Adblock Plus, then it's very easy to block the particular ones you don't like from appearing.

That's a good point actually cheers!

If you use Safari, there's an option in preferences to "play animations only once" - that stops 'em too.

Or for an even easier solution - which is a new one on me, just found out due to googling about Maggot's post.

In FF or IE, just hit the ESC key and it stops any animations there and then.

Bugger me, you learn something every day...so they say.

Ahh, new to me too, useful..  (y)

And I too prefer the subtle animations rather than the big bouncy in your face ones!

It also locks dynamic avatars.

Excellent. Thanks. [discovery: hitting ESC also deletes eveything you've typed in...]
