Slightly off-topic but I can remember a scheme, undoubtedly hatched over a pint or twelve, to turn a certain then-unpassed muddy sump in Eglys Faen (?) into a colloid, i.e. jelly, so it could be dug out.

Might have some merit...

It was certainly open last Tuesday night. I wouldn't say empty but it was passable as a duck without bailing. The gear is there to allow it to be bailed further if you have a large enough and willing enough group!

Don't mind doing mud sump with small air space. But sometimes its full, and with
only two people it takes up time and effort to bail.    ;)

Ah, but if everyone thought that way it would soon become deep and impassable again. It's important to keep it baled. It takes time and effort? .... So does caving.  ;)

Not a problem if there is a party of four or five. But if your doing a long trip with two people i have found
having to bail takes a lot out you.  (y)

First and only time I did the round trip, it was completely full and we had to bail it. There was two of us, and it was even more difficult with the bad air!
