Necropolis - Large Pot - Where does the water go?

This rather wet weather has got me armchair caving and thinking. I've been reading a chapter from Caves and Karst of the Yorkshire Dales by Tony Waltham and Tim Allen - Chapter: Caves of Leck Fell and Ireby Fell. (This chapter available freely online)
While the authors are talking about drainage they mention that Red Herring series likely drains toward Keld Held.
As some may be aware, in (quite/very) wet weather an inlet at the top of Colossus becomes active and a huge amount of water cascades down the pot into Necropolis. However this water, and other water in Necropolis (shower from an aven in the middle, inlet by the left wall near the choke facing rift pot, water from grime and punishment) all sinks into the floor and disappears.
My question is, does this water quickly find itself back into the Red Herring series (as the elevations in the book suggest) or is there some unknown drainage route potentially going towards Keld Held?

Well...... No one knows for sure. Red Herring sump is perched some 10m above Keld Head. Surveys seem to confirm that. Diver reports are that it goes back on itself but is silted up.

There is a lot of water sinking into the floor of the Rift/Large main drag right along its length. We dug and followed the Crystal inlet water all the way to sump level, directly below the main tunnel. It was dived but silted up completely at -8m. We had speculated that there was a collector under there which might lead to the connection with Keld passages but efforts so far seem to suggest it'll all be far too immature.
