New Cwmbran CC Web Site

I have the same problem at work - ttxela, you're not alone...

FYI, this is what Sophos says it has a problem with:

http://www.sophos.com/en-us/threat-center/threat-analyses/viruses-and-spyware/Mal~HTMLGen-A.aspx

It's a reasonably generic "I don't like what's going on here" warning, but IMO it's not one to be ignored. Put it this way, if I came to your site without the background to the situation in the thread above, I wouldn't be continuing to the site - perhaps that's something to consider for your site/club's reputation.

I sincerely hope your attempt to twist the nipples of your web host works, but a number of them can be pretty devious b@st4rds too...

sophos are known for false positives and it seems damn near impossible to get them to ok an ok site.

I have removed the flash animation temporally.  So that might make =a difference but I doubt it.

Everything is now coming from the one server and it is 100% Ok.

So any report otherwise is a false positive.

Seems like Saphos have got their "knickers in a twist". anyone got any views about Norton ? (Sorry. Off topic, but had no probs with CCC website, apart from a confusion with the initials being the same as the national  caving body for Wales)

What has knickers or silly oversight problems got to do with it? I'd say (as previously mentioned above) if you're linking, a number of times, to a dodgy server (p-rn with its associated malware, injected code and god knows what else) then you'll get flagged as being suspect.. Chances are it will take a hell of a lot longer for that badge to be removed than it did to gain it, which stands to reason - remove dodgy links, get approved, then put them back in - would be a common trick, trust is something hard won once you've been flagged as dodgy.

Was the dodgy host a cheap, virtually unknown one? (it has the hallmarks of such) cost is always a factor but sometimes it's worth spending a little extra.

To keep on-topic; I had no issue viewing the site..

Good point Dunc, but is this a debate about website management  or ---- WTF, I'm going To bed,

Sadly a small club like ours cannot afford external hosting.

The site I want to use to hold large files is mostly a free one but you can 'upgrade'.

My gripe is that nothing accessible from the web site is or was [while using current domain name] in any way dodgy.  But how do I prove that without forking out thousands of pounds to take sophos to court?  And I know this is not the only web site they make false claims about - a quick trawl of the internet confirms that.

Bograt - this thread is about a new caving website, to the extent sophos will stop people accessing it the management of the web site is a very relevant issue.  I wish there were an easy answer - I fear this could be a critical issue and there is fa I can do about it.

Site works fine on an iPad.

Keep those trip reports coming!

(Just be careful out there and always take lots of spare everything with you).

Sorry all, seem to have caused a bit of a stir.

All I know is that I get the message described when trying to access the site. I can honestly say I have only got this message once before over several years of use when I inadvisedly clicked on a link in a Facebook message in a moment of inattention. I suspect Sophos probably saved me a fair amount of grief then  :)

I don't desperately need to access the site or anything - just interested to take a look
