New iPhone 4 Screen

Most frustatingly I have smashed the screen of my iPhone 4. Any advice on whether any of the cheaper non-Apple replacements are any good? (A friend spent ?160 replacing her screen a few months ago...ouch!).

Any help much appreciated.

I did this for my 3GS for less than ?20 but it does require a certain amount of bravery and attention to detail. The screws are very small!

I started by studying the videos on YouTube such as How to fix an iPhone 4 Screen / Glass

For the 3GS you could either buy just the screen or for more money the screen with some electronic attached. I went with the latter since I'd didn't want to play around with a hairdryer to melt the glue. I don't know if it is the same for the 4.

The  replacement parts can be found on Amazon or eBay.

Get an Android instead. Galaxy Ace or Samsung Galaxy 3. Orux Maps will run on these. You know it makes sense.

i'm pretty sure our local shop can do a replacement screen fitted for about ?40.

I recall a mate having trouble with his iphone and apple refusing to repair it because he had changed the screen himself.
