New pothole found in Weardale

New pothole found last friday night, we went back last night with ropes etc, but unfortunately the entrance to the pitch is too tight, will have to try a ladder next.  We can see into the pitch and it seems to be about 8 to 10 meters deep, we improvised a cave drone using rope, a lamp, and a camera and lowered it into the chamber, video appears to show a large chamber, getting excited about this one, here's a view down the pitch:

Currently cutting the video down now...not sure how we're going to get into it tbh! That big pale slab is wedged across the top practically cutting the pitch into two, unfortunately its also more or less holding up one of the walls, this little aven is right into the top of the limestone and is a little unstable....we also found another on Friday night just down the hill from this one which has a huge opening and is huge inside but is only 8 meters deep over all, well to a floor of tyres and dead sheep.  Pics to follow.

"This photo is no longer available," it says.

Seems like they too are inaccessible, which is a disappointment.    :(

If you can't cap the pale slab then you can blast the opposite wall or is that the wall the slab is supporting? If not I would drill a long hole (60cm) downwards about 10cm from the left corner of the pitch, starting about 20cm above the small ledge and under an 45-60? angle

Nice find indeed :)

BTW the new photo of my Avatar was taken last week-end in a virgin water passage in France.

Have built a proper video rig to drop down into the hole on a rope, I want to know there's something worth going down there for if I'm gonna go to the effort of excavation.  Landowners permission is sorted as well.

And yeah that's the pics of dissapointment

This is the video we got by tying a camera and helmet to the end of the rope, was using my mates helmet so had to pul it up 40 seconds in to turn his lamp on properly!  o_O
