OFD1 Access reminder

Just a reminder that the old access to OFD1 via the yard at Y Grithig is now closed. There is a new fence blocking the path which should not be climbed under any cirumstances.

Access is now only to be made via the stile leading of the Bridleway (Y Pant)

From the layby, walk past Y Grithig and follow the bridleway up the hill. Pass through the gap in the wall where the gate used to be and turn right before the new gate. Climb the stile and follow the path down to the cave.

From SWCC, follow the bridleway down the Pant and through the new gate then turn left and across the stile.

Please don't cross any fences anywhere else.

I have to trust to the greater knowledge of the people I am with (I did ask if they knew the new way in before hand) as the names and description do not mean anything to me.

Is the style a traditional style i.e. have a wooden step to get you over the fence or is it just big stones?

Is it possible to have a map showing the road, laybye, public footpath & style please.

I would hate to think I had gone the wrong way at the weekend

HUGE apologies if we did

The stile is a section of fence with a wooden top. The steps at the moment is just a pile of stones so it sounds like you went the right way. I'll try to get a map sorted

Here's the map Rhys linked to previously. Which ever way you approach the entrance, either by the red line walking down from Penwyllt or the blue line walking round from the layby, you should have a short section of dry stone wall immediately to your right (downhill of you) when you turn off the public footpath, for a distance of no more than ten metres. The wall then meets a fence coming downhill (from your left) and the piece of fence with a wooden cross piece immediately above this wall is the 'stile' which you should cross. At this point you follow the fence down to your right and you will almost immediately find yourself at the entrance.
