I've just been reading Jim Eyre's "The Game Goes On" and came across the anecdote where he tells the story of a couple of amateur caver from Blackburn who get them selves into some trouble on a rope ladder. Long story short they got themselves into a spot of bother, with one of them uttering the words "On finding myself upside down I did not panic". As it turns out Newcastle University Caving Club used this quote along with an amusing cartoon (according to Jim Eyre) on a T-shirt some time in either 60's or 70's.
What I'd like to do is try and recreate that t-shirt design for this year's Newcastle Uni hoodie. Here's where you guys come in, does anybody know what the cartoon on the t-shirt looked like? None of the regular old lags are old enough to remember university in the 60's or 70's, but maybe some of you do? Does anyone have any photos of Newcastle University Caving Club from that era (ideally with the t-shirt on/in the picture) so that we can recreate this design? Or better still does someone have a very old and tatty UNCC t-shirt tucked away somewhere?
Cheers for your help!
