Hi (paul I moved to new thread)
Oxlow pitches. Yes there was a line in place. as for its condition :? :? :?
I did oxlow recently, got the ropes down to a tee.
Entrance shaft and pitch 2 (armco). a 40 meter rope will see you to the head of the armco and down this. (no need to bother with re belays/devs in the entrance shaft.)
Down and round the corner to head of 3rd pitch, Start a 100 meter rope here, Down pitch 3, (one deviation sling in situ.) lands you on slope and down to the head of pitch 4. (dont bother rigging all the attachment points. Just a hand line to the pitch head suffices).
Down 4th pitch (another deviation sling in situ) lands you on the col between East Chamber/west swirl passage. The rest of your 100 meter should see you down west swirl passage to the pitch head (pitch 5) at the end of the slope. (especially if you only rebelay it couple of times) a 20 meter easily sees you down pitch 5.
Then all you need is either a 30 meter to pull through into new oxlow or a 15m to get into the bottom of maskill.
( there may be a small pitch right at the end of New Oxlow but I aint been there so you'll have to decide for yourself).
So 2 100m bags covers it.
Krabs/mallions -
sling for scaff bar and I only bother with one of the p bolts for backup. so 2 krabs.
pitch 2 - 2 P's at pitch head
pitch 3 - Huge hook thing that can be threaded and tied as backup. 2 P's then a krab for the dev sling. so 3 krabs in all.
slope to next pitch head - 1 p bolt if you can be bothered.
pitch 4 - 2 or 3 p bolts and a krab for the the dev sling.
West swirl. 1 P at top. up to 4 re tie in points if you can be bothered.
pitch 5 - 2 or 3 P's at pitch head.
Pull through - 2 krabs/mallions.
Final pitch into maskill - bout 3 P's I think.
8)
So 25 krabs/mallions (2 snap gates for devs) should be plenty.
We did maskill on saturday. followed the Crewe rigging guide and ended up with 100 meters extra rope and god knows how many mallions spare.
Needs re-writing, me's thinks.
