Contact the CNCC for access to certain caves in Yorkshire

http://www.cncc.org.uk/contact_cncc.html

Other than that - the Dales guides (Northern Caves 1,2 and 3) generally who to contact for access

A lot of Yorkshire caves are 'call in on the day' (eg Alum Pot area) and a lot are free access (ie if you can't find anything on CNCC site or in Northern Caves, you're probably OK, but you can always double check at Inglesport or Bernies)

Normally, I?d contact our club secretary who has all the contact details and organises permits through CNCC, so I'm sure that at least one of the clubs of which you're a member might have some information.

However if you can go to the CNCC website (http://cncc.org.uk/home.html) and then click on Contact Info

Lost John?s Cave is on Leck Fell. There is no access to Leck Fell during April, May & June

Lancaster Hole is on Casterton Fell. The permit secretary is J. Muckalt, whose address appears on the CNCC contact page.

Juniper Gulf is on the Allotment. There is no access to the Allotment from 31st March to 1st October, otherwise permission is obtained from Dr Farrer as per CNCC website.

Penyghent Pot. The permit secretary is M Hughes, whose address appears on the CNCC contact page.

Shouldn't we insist that Yorkies obtains a permit to visit the rest of the country?
So that means every time I go to dig Via Lancaster I need a permit....like nearly every weekend(and on an evening when the summer comes), it feels like I almost live down bloody lancaster hole....

If you don't write the address correctly, it won't arrive. ;)

That's what's so irritating about emails. There's a high level of redundancy in a snail mail address - you can mangle a lot of it and it'll still arrive. One letter wrong in an email address and you're dished.

I should have pointed that some, if not all, CNCC permits are only issued to clubs that are members of BCA. It is for that reason that it helps for your club secretary to request the permit then the CNCC meets secretaries can check that the requesting club is indeed a member of BCA.

By the way, the permits are usually in paper form which are posted back to the requesting club, although I think that the club can request that this permit or that permit is sent to a particular individual?s address. I?m sure that was the case when I asked for the first (& only?) CNCC permit for Rough Pot.

I?m sorry that you think that your father is delaying the post. Perhaps, if you speak to him kindly, he might make an effort to see that letters to & from you are expedited.
