letter to Petzl Distribution
Since the helmet model "Ecrin Roc" is no longer sold and has been replaced by SPELIOS helmets (leisure) or Vertex (pro), caving community traces of criticism related to his experience.
First of all :
- Because we can no longer accommodate the blanket because of the cap of polystyrene (risk of significant forgetfulness)
- Because this same floating cap is unnecessary and debilitating especially in cave diving,
- Because the SPELIOS is not stable enough on the head which is dangerous when one has to move open jugular (narrow area with risk of jamming of the helmet)

- Because some have difficulty in properly positioning the headphones on their ears because of the blank for the optional noise protection devices. This form also leads to lower side protection in close progression ears.
But also :
- SPELIOS because the setting is much less convenient than the knobs of the "Ecrin Roc"
- Because these lightweight headphones give the impression of being less protective (psychological discomfort)
- Because they often unflattering look to the wearer (including the Vertex which ranks very high) and that as a general rule they have a look caving least that "Ecrin Roc".
In summary, the new helmets seem unsuited to specific conditions of use in caving activity and their structure (shape, setting and internal rotator) inconsistent with our security requirements.

We former or current users of the model "Ecrin Roc" So are eager for the return of the helmet on the market

Didn't spot this one earlier in the month, but just seen a post for it elsewhere.
Was going to post it on Uk Caving, so did a quick search so as I could tag it to earlier discussions relating to the Ecrin Roc, and this dedicated thread popped up.
Have signed and shared it.
