Petzl duo atex jiggery pokery advice sought

I have a petal duo atex with the rechargeable battery pack, does anyone have the knowhow to adapt the battery tray to be able to take normal aa's like a standard duo? The connectors inside the battery housing are slightly different

I'm not sure of the difference between atex and regular duos, but you can buy the AA battery insert for just a few quid. This is the first one I found, might not be the cheapest : http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Petzl-E60650-Duo-Battery-box-insert

Thanks Joe, I was going to buy a replacement tray but when I tried a standard duo tray in the Atex it didn't work, I'm guessing that some sort of soldering needs to be done to make it work?

The inside of my battery box looks like this, is yours different?

Yes, just 2 terminals, one at either end

From inspection, the two terminals in the centre just connect together, so a circuit is made between the 4 AAs. So if you were to find some suitable material and glue it to the base of the middle two battery slots in  the tray, completing the circuit that should work. Either two separate pieces connected with solder and wire, or just one strip between the two. Have a look inside some old knackered torches that are most likely lying around the house for suitable bits, or failing that, thin tin or copper sheeting.

I would think that will work.
